Today I took the girls to the Dallas Museum of Art. Kennedy was really excited about going and
Mika...well ... not so much. The idea of walking around looking at art and being quite did not appeal to her. I'm sure they would have been happy to just go swimming but I really want my girls to be able to experience the different "arts" so why not start with the Art Museum. Thankfully when you pay to get into the museum they tell you the best places to start if you have kids...European Paintings... the girls learned the difference between a portrait, still life, and landscape paintings.. They enjoyed naming each painting we looked at. Kennedy wanted to know about all the paintings especially the artist. She wanted to know how long ago they lived.

This is Kennedy standing next to a Picasso. She was very excited about this painting because not only did she recognize the name but the style.. she said," mommy, we studied him in art and you can always tell it is one of his painting because he always makes the eyes different." The picture to the right is Kennedy's very own Picasso from her art show at school.. It was really neat for her to be able to see the real painting.
This is the painting Mika wanted her picture taken by.

They had a great children's area where the kids can create their own "art"..I think my girls would have stayed there all day if I would have let them.

The outside waterfall!

As soon as we got home both girls got right to work on their very own pieces of art! Kennedy decided she wanted to do a portrait and
Mika just wanted to paint! I am so glad I decided to take them! We had a great time and learned
a lot!
